"You can positively affect and change a social circumstance with art, and it's vital that change happens now." -Mos Def
Recently, I received a letter from Black Indigenous People of Color Artists for Awareness which was sent to the entire faculty and staff at the University of Utah Department of Theatre, the faculty staff and officers of the University of Utah, President Ruth Watkins, and the University of Utah Board of Trustees. Click on the pages below to read the letter.
Dear Students,
I'm listening. I'm committed to earning your trust and creating a more safe and inclusive environment. I'm committed to working together as we develop the skills needed to change the world through art. I'm committed to playing my role in creating true and lasting change.
Your Teacher and Friend,
Stephen
P.S. I can't wait to be back in our studio
